We are thrilled to announce that iCabbi is now powering Australia's second-largest taxi fleet with our taxi dispatch platform. While many customers have scaled into large fleets since implementing iCabbi, the Silver Top onboarding is the single largest go-live in iCabbi’s history, comprising some 7,000 taxi drivers in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Melbourne phase of this implementation has gone really smoothly, and Silver Top is already feeling the positive impact of change.
Established in 1872 as a hansom cab service, Silver Top is now in its fourth generation of family ownership and management. The Australian taxi industry has come under severe pressure from rideshare companies such as Uber, DiDi and Ola. “Our long local history means we have a really loyal customer base, but attracting the younger generation is challenging. We need to match the tech innovation of the ride-hail apps. Partnering with iCabbi gives us world-class technology and the ability to develop our own products on their platform. To support our growth plans, we needed to move onto a technology platform built on Cloud and Mobile Technology, and iCabbi’s impressive track record in delivering success to large fleets in the UK and North American markets meant that they were the only choice for us. We’ve been very impressed by the professional approach taken to onboard our fleets and are excited about the innovations they plan to deliver over the coming years” said Silver Top Chairman Alf Gange.
“With the right partner and the right platform, enterprise fleets like Silver Top can bring the fight back to the ridehailing disruptors. They can win market share from their traditional taxi competitors who remain shackled to a technology stack from a different era. In this very competitive market, Silver Top now has the products they need to deliver great customer and driver experiences. Silver Top have some really exciting Strategic plans and we at iCabbi are confident that the team and technology combination they now have will deliver real success in Australia” commented iCabbi’s Business Development Director Niall Prenty
iCabbi entered into a strategic partnership with Groupe Renault in June of 2018, enabling us to bolster our team with the creation of 120 jobs over three years. The recruitment drive has seen the total headcount rise to 136, with over 75 in product and R&D, making us by far the largest development team in the dispatch technology space right now.
Our CEO, Gavan Walsh summed up the last year at iCabbi, commenting: “Since the deal, we’ve gathered a team of highly talented individuals to ramp up the next phase of innovation at iCabbi in line with our vision to put taxi companies at the center of mobility. We’ve opened a new dev hub in Montreal, expanded our Dublin HQ by another floor, launched the iCabbi Marketplace, and smashed the 500,000,000 bookings mark - 37% of which were done in the last 12 months alone, a testament to the growth curve we are on. Breaking into the Australian market is the cherry on top of a great year for us.”
